Nomar’s Carne Asada Sunday’s Are Back, Baby!!
Now I know from reading the Trolley Dodger’s blog that Nomar’s Carne Asada Sundays are one of the best kept secrets in LA. If this doesn’t make you want to go, I don’t know what will. Do you think I can write this off as “official research?” From the Dodgers:
NOMAR GARCIAPARRA’S CARNE ASADA SUNDAY RETURNS AUGUST 3
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers and shortstop Nomar Garciaparra will once again host Carne Asada Sunday on August 3 following the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 1:10 p.m. Garciaparra created the event last season in a continued effort to give back to the community in which he was raised and in celebration of his Mexican-American heritage. The August 3 event will mark the fourth time that Garciaparra has hosted fans at Carne Asada Sunday since its inception.
Carne Asada Sunday, presented by Cacique, will include a live mariachi band from Baldwin Park ’s Guadalajara Grill, food and beverages and each attendee will receive an autographed photo of the shortstop.
Tickets to Carne Asada Sunday are on sale now for a $50 donation to Dodgers Dream Foundation. Fans must also hold a game ticket for the August 3 game and can secure their spot at Carne Asada Sunday online at www.dodgers.com/carneasada. Seating is limited to 200 and is nearly sold out. Carne Asada Sunday will be held at the Loge Terrace following the game.
Garciaparra hosted two Carne Asada Sunday events last season and proceeds from the event helped purchase new equipment for two local Little Leagues at Garciaparra’s request. The idea to host Carne Asada Sunday was conceived by Garciaparra last season and is one of many ways that he and his wife, soccer legend Mia Hamm, have given back to the community. In addition to taking part in the Dodgers’ Community Caravan in each of his three seasons with the club, Garciaparra has conducted clinics, and visited hospitals on several occasions.
