Don Mattingly, where are you?

0

So while the struggles of the Dodgers offense is nothing new (unfortunately), I took a look at the home runs coming out the outfield and boy was it dismal:

Player HR to Date Projected HR (Season)

Jones 2 HR 5 HR

Kemp 4 HR 10 HR

Ethier 5 HR 13 HR

Pierre 0 HR 0 HR

Young 0 HR 0 HR

Ouch – when your entire outfield is projected to hit a grand total of 28 taters (and with no Dodgers among the Top 50 HR hitters in the majors, you know you’re in trouble. I know, I know, the Dodgers are not built to hit the long ball, but if that’s the case, you need to be able to hit in the clutch, and the more I watch these guys choke with runners in scoring position, the more I’m convinced they lack confidence and are just flailing about out there. Maybe they’re trying too hard, but Mike Easler needs to figure this thing out or Ned needs to bring Mattingly back on a more consistent basis, because something’s just not right out at the Ravine.
