Dodgers, Torre Heading to Yankee Stadium in 2010

2

So I’m sure this is a much bigger deal to Yankee fans than to Dodger fans, but I saw this story in The Sporting News and wanted to pass it along: the Dodgers and Joe Torre will play the Yankees in the new Yankee Stadium in 2010 (their last visit was 29 years ago when they beat the Yankees in the ’81 World Series).  Thank you scheduling gods!  I dislike Yankee fans more than any other set of baseball fans, and I can’t wait to see Torre take the Blue Crew in to NYC and kick some Yankee butt.  From The Sporting News (who is citing the New York Post):

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who considers Torre a “second father” to him, told the Post that it would be “awkward” seeing his baseball mentor in the opposing dugout.

“It’s going to be great, because my first year in the big leagues [current Yankees manager Joe] Girardi was the bench coach and Torre was the manager,” Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano told the Post. “It would be great to see Girardi on one side and Torre on the other side. That would be fun.”

Fun?  It’ll be fun when we beat your Yankees down, Cano!

Hey yankeefan – I’m curious, what do you think of the new stadium? Have you had a chacne to go to a game there yet?
